IRENE
unveils secret reports about side effects
 October 2008 --
Since June of 2007 IRENE-reporters are
investigating the pharmaceutical industry. Initially at
a slow pace because of Freedom Of
Information (FOI) procedures, but
since Spring 2008 with more frequent
meetings and further research. Main subjects
were the secret reports about side-effects
of medicines,
lobbyism in the EU, including financing of
patient-organizations and academic opinion
leaders, as well
as safety of highly popular medicines for ADHD. The first
Danish, Dutch and Belgian articles were published on
October 1st and 2nd in Denmark (Samvirke), The Netherlands (Trouw)
and Belgium (Knack).
